-FREE- An Evening with Writer John Laycock
The Salvation Army Neighbourhood Services Centre, will host a FREE Seminar. It will take place on Thursday May 15th from 7:00-9:00pm. Come and be inspired! Listen to recently retired Star writer John Laycock talk about how he built a fascinating career as an entertainment writer in Windsor.
John retired in January after 40 years at the Windsor Star, and 43 years as a paid journalist. In the fall of 1968, he began writing one of Canada’s FIRST rock music columns. He interviewed people such as John Lennon, Bob Seger, and Anne Murray. He also saw the dawn of such bands as Led Zeppelin and the Who. That set the path for many years of entertainment coverage, and at least 2,000 movie reviews.
John will also discuss how the nature of reporting and the business of popular music has changed, particularly with the invention of the Internet and iPod.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be both educated and inspired!
Call 519-944-4922 to book your seat before May 12th.
